RHS track athletes compete
ROLLA – In a meet for junior varsity and other
younger members of the squad, the Rolla High School boys’
and girls’ track team competed against Jefferson City
High School Tuesday, April 15 at the Rolla Community
Track.
No team scores were kept. Rolla’s girls won 10 of the
18 events with 13 second places and 10 third places. The
RHS boys won six of 18 events, with 10 second places and
12 third places.
On Friday, April 18 Rolla will send athletes to both
the Owensville Relays and the Waynesville Invitational.

track competes in Capital City Relays
JEFFERSON CITY – The Rolla High School girls’ track
team placed seventh while the RHS boys finished 12th
in the 16-school Capital City Relays, held Saturday, April
12 on the campus of Lincoln University.
In the girls’ meet Jefferson City High School easily
won the team title with 215 points followed by Lee’s
Summit North with 125 points, Raytown South 106, St. Louis
Berkeley 69, Hannibal 67, Columbia Hickman 59, Rolla 38,
Jefferson City Helias 29, Quincy, Ill. 26, Wentzville Holt
19, Columbia Rock Bridge 16 and Mexico two.
In the boys’ meet East St. Louis, Ill. won the team
crown with 150 points followed by Jefferson City High with
141, Raytown South 121, Lee’s Summit North 87, Columbia
Hickman 85, Columbia Rock Bridge 51, Quincy, Ill. 28,
Hannibal 27, Wentzville Holt 24, Helias 17, Berkeley 15,
Rolla 12, Mexico nine and St. Louis Soldan three.
RHS was scheduled to compete again Tuesday, April 15,
hosting Jefferson City High in a junior varsity dual meet.
Here were the placers for the RHS girls’ and boys’

Fifth Place – 4x100-meter relay (Phylicia Grayson,
Monique Matos, Mercedes McCann, Caryn Ranney), :54.5.
Sixth Place – Ijeoma Okafor, 300-meter hurdles,
:51.5; Rebecca Fryer, pole vault, 7-6; Kelsey Hunt,
pentathlon (100, long jump, shot put, high jump, 800),
1,282 points.
Seventh Place – 4x200-meter relay (Grayson, Matos,
Lindsey Crutcher, Ranney), 1:56; 1,600-meter medley relay
(Katie Williams, Grayson, Crutcher, Ranney), 4:59;

track squads compete in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD – The Rolla High School boys’ and girls’
track teams competed in Springfield in a couple of
different meets on April 3-4.
On Thursday, April 3 the Lady Bulldogs competed in the
Springfield Girls Night Out Meet. And on April 4 the RHS
boys’ squad participated in the Hillcrest Invitational.
Both events were held at JFK Stadium. There were 23
schools competing in the girls’ event and 30 schools in
the boys’ event. No team scores were kept.
Here are Rolla’s top finishes from those events:
Friday, April 4
Hillcrest Boys’ Invitational
The Bulldogs medaled in one event, as Tyler Edwards
placed third n the 300-meter hurdles with a time of
:41.07.
Also for RHS Ryan Peterson was 10th in the
400-meter dash. Edwards ran :15.77 in the 110-meter high
hurdles but didn’t make the finals. The RHS 4x800-meter
relay team placed 15th overall.
Thursday, April 3
Girls’ Night Out Meet
Ijeoma Okafor won the 300-meter hurdles race with a
time of :49.94.
Third places for the Lady Bulldogs came from Jasmine
Rector in the high jump at 4-10 and the throwers
4x100-meter relay team of Kelsey Hunt, Rebecca Fryer,
Megan Swarmes and Candice McIntyre at 1:01.75.
RHS fifth places came from Montoya Marshall in the shot
put at 35-11 and the 4x200-meter relay team of Tyundra
Miller, Lindsey Crutcher, Phylicia Grayson and Caryn
Ranney at 1:53.45.
Fryer was eighth in the pole vault at 8-0.
