Bulldog soccer No. 3 seed
LEBANON – The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team
has been seeded No. 3 for the Missouri Class 2 District 11
Tournament, to be held May 12-15 in Lebanon.
Waynesville was seeded No. 1 while Springfield Glendale
was seeded No. 2, Rolla No. 3, Lebanon No. 4, Springfield
Central No. 5 and Springfield Hillcrest No. 6.
As the top two seeds, Waynesville and Glendale received
first-round byes.
In first-round games set for Monday, May 13 Rolla meets
Hillcrest at 5 p.m. while Lebanon takes on Central at 7
p.m.
In semifinal games scheduled for Tuesday, May 13
Waynesville will play the Lebanon-Central winner at 5 p.m.
while Glendale meets the Rolla-Hillcrest winner at 7 p.m.
The district championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Thursday, May 15.

clips RHS girls’ soccer, 3-2
ROLLA – Three unanswered goals by Jefferson City
Helias was enough to beat the Rolla High School girls’
soccer team 3-2 Tuesday, May 6 at the Kiwanis Club Field.
The Lady Bulldogs, 15-8, took a 1-0 lead five minutes
into the game when senior Kaitlin Bramel scored a goal.
However, the Helias Crusaders then tallied three
straight goals to take a 3-1 lead early in the second
half.
Olivia Cox netted a goal for RHS in the second half.
The Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to host Union on
Thursday, May 8 at Kiwanis Field. It will be Senior Night
for the Lady ‘Dogs, starting at 5 p.m.

Unbeaten
Waynesville shuts down Lady ‘Dog soccer
ROLLA
– The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team was beaten
by the undefeated Waynesville Lady Tigers 3-0 in a tight
Ozark Conference contest at the Bray Sports Complex.
The game was closer than the final score indicated.
Waynesville broke a scoreless deadlock in the latter part
of the first half with a goal from junior midfielder Erica
Combs, assisted by junior defender Orielle Thomas.
It was a 1-0 game at intermission.
Senior midfielder Shanna Neeley slammed home an
unassisted goal in the second half. And senior forward
Katie Pritchard ended the Lady Tiger scoring with a goal
assisted by Neeley.
Sophomore Adrian Pogue was in goal for Rolla while
senior Crystal Hutchinson was in goal for Waynesville.
Rolla won the junior varsity game 5-2. Kaylyn Stoll
netted three goals for the jayvee Lady Bulldogs, now 4-2,
while Kara Mace and Sara Lowe each had one goal. Lowe,
Mace, Stoll and Ashlee Rightnowar each had an assist for
the RHS jayvee team.
Waynesville No. 1 In Region
On Monday Waynesville received the No. 1 ranking in the
Southwest Missouri Region. Waynesville was ranked No. 1 in
the region, Springfield Glendale No. 2, Rolla No. 3,
Lebanon No. 4 and Ozark No. 5.

Carter’s
goal lifts RHS girls’ soccer
ROLLA – The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team
completed a rough trip to central Missouri for Hazelwood
Central.
Junior Kim Carter scored the game-winning goal with
3:02 remaining in the game to lift the Lady Bulldogs to a
2-1 victory over Hazelwood Central on Saturday afternoon
at the Bray Sports Complex.
After a scoreless first half Hazelwood Central took a
1-0 lead four minutes into the second half.
That stayed the score until Jaclyn Standfast gook a
pass from Ashley Kerr and scored the tying goal with 16
minutes remaining.
And RHS got the victory when Olivia Cox found Carter
with a pass and Carter knocked in the goal at the 3:02
mark.
Adrian Pogue was in goal for the Lady Bulldogs, who
improve to 7-2.
It was an 0-2 road weekend for Hazelwood Central, which
lost at Waynesville 4-2 on Friday.
No junior varsity game was held on Saturday.
Rolla and Waynesville will meet in a Ozark Conference
showdown Tuesday, April 15 at the Bray Sports Complex.
Waynesville defeated conference foe Springfield Hillcrest
5-1 on Saturday, April 12, to improve to 8-0 overall and
4-0 in the league.

girls’ soccer sweeps make-up games
SPRINGFIELD
– Due to the recent rainy weather the Rolla High School
girls’ soccer team played a pair of varsity as well as
two junior varsity games at Springfield on Wednesday,
April 9 and swept all o those contests with shutouts.
At Hillcrest High School Rolla shut out the Hillcrest
Lady Hornets 6-0. And at Central High the Lady Bulldogs
pounded Central 9-0.
That improved Rolla’s overall varsity record to 6-2.
The Hillcrest contest was a Ozark Conference game and
improved RHS to 2-1 in the league.
Sophomore Adrian Pogue recorded the shutouts for RHS,
her fourth and fifth of the season.
Against Hillcrest junior Ashley Kerr had three goals
and an assist for the Lady ‘Dogs while sophomore Olivia
Cox had two goals and an assist; junior Ellen Spooner had
a goal and sophomore Jaclyn Standfast dished out four
assists.
In the game against Central Standfast erupted for four
goals and two assists to power RHS while junior Kaitylyn
Hall had two goals and Kim Carter, Kaitlin Bramel and Cox
each had one goal. Cox had two assists and Rachel
Zamazanuk, Bramel, Kerr and E. Spooner each had one
assist.
Rolla also swept the junior varsity games in shutout
fashion, beating Hillcrest 6-0 and Central 10-0. The Rolla
jayvee squad is now 3-2.
Caitlin McFarland had four goals and three assists
against Central while Sara Lowe had two goals while Kaylyn
Stoll, Katheryn McCaulla, Jacey Crain and Taylor Skelton
all had one goal. Ashlee Rightnowar had two assists while
Stoll, McCaulla, Emily Carroll and Ally Parfet each had
one assist.
Against Hillcrest McFarland and Stoll each had two
goals while Kayla James and McCaulla each had one.
Carroll, Rightnowar and Lowe had assists.
Rolla was scheduled to host Hazelwood Central at noon
Saturday at the Bray Sports Complex in a varsity-only
contest.

ST. LOUIS – The Rolla High School girls’ soccer
team fell to 4-2 overall by losing to small-school state
power Visitation 7-0 Saturday, April 4.
Actually the game was close most of the way. It was 1-0
at halftime before Visitation, ranked No. 4 in the current
Class 1 state poll, pulled away after intermission.
Visitation also won the junior varsity game 1-0.

Kickapoo
hands RHS girls’ soccer first defeat
SPRINGFIELD – The Rolla High School girls’ soccer
team suffered its first defeat of the season on Thursday,
April 3, as the Lady Bulldogs were upended by Springfield
Kickapoo 2-1 in Ozark Conference action.
Rolla falls to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Kickapoo took a 2-0 lead. Chelsea Russell scored the
game’s first goal on a corner kick 20 minutes into the
contest, which stood for the halftime score.
Eleven minutes into the second half the Lady Chiefs
went up 2-0 on Megan Melugin’s shot form 20 yards out.
Two minutes later Rolla got its lone goal, as Ellen
Spooner scored off a long throw-in from Kaitlin Bramel.
Kickapoo also won the junior varsity game 3-0. The
jayvee Lady ‘Dogs drop to 1-1.
Rolla is scheduled to play at Visitation on Saturday,
April 5, with jayvee action starting at noon and the
varsity contest to follow.

girls’ soccer opens league play with win
SPRINGFIELD – A goal by Jackie Standfast with 18
minutes remaining allowed the Rolla High School girls’
soccer team to stay undefeated on the season, as the Lady
Bulldogs clipped Springfield Parkview 1-0 in Ozark
Conference action on Tuesday, April 1.
Kaitlin Bramel assisted on Standfast’s goal.
Adrian Pogue was in goal for RHS. It was the third
shutout of the season for the Lady Bulldogs, now 4-0
overall and 1-0 in league play.
Rolla also won the junior varsity game 3-0. Sydni Kaden
netted two goals while Kaylen Stoll added one. Kara Mace
had two assists and Ashlee Rightnowar had one. It was the
season-opener for the jayvee Lady ‘Dogs.
Rolla is scheduled to play at Springfield on Thursday
against Kickapoo, with jayvee action starting at 5 p.m.
and the varsity contest to follow.

Lady
‘Dogs send strong message with 3-0 start
ROLLA
– The Rolla High School girls’ soccer team sent an
early message with its performance in the second annual
Central Federal Savings & Loan Classic on Friday and
Saturday, March 21-22.
That message: the Lady Bulldogs are going to be a
handful this spring.
Rolla allowed just one goal and went 3-0 in an
impressive field to win its own event, held at Kiwanis
Field at the Bray Sports Complex.
On Friday sophomore midfielder Jaclyn Standfast scored
a late goal to give the Lady ‘Dogs a 2-1 victory over
Washington.
And on Saturday Rolla won twice in shutout fashion,
stopping Springfield Catholic 1-0 in the morning and later
in the afternoon downing Columbia Hickman 2-0.
Catholic finished second in the tourney standings while
Hickman was third and Washington fourth.
In other games, it was Catholic and Hickman playing to
a 1-1 tie; Hickman and Washington playing to a 1-1 tie and
Catholic stopping Washington 5-0.
Against Washington Standfast got the game-winner on an
assist from junior forward Ashley Kerr. In the first half
sophomore forward Olivia Cox scored on an assist from
junior midfielder Kim Carter.
Sophomore Adrian Pogue was in goal for RHS.
In Saturday morning’s game against Catholic,
state-ranked in the small-school division, senior
midfielder Kaitlin Bramel scored the lone goal off an
assist by Standfast.
After a scoreless first half against Hickman, Kerr
opened the scoring with a goal off an assist by Bramel.
Freshman midfielder Ellen Spooner tallied the second goal
on a Standfast assist.
Pogue was again in goal.
The 3-0 weekend result left RHS head coach Mike Howard
with an even 500 career victories as a head coach,
counting both boys’ and girls’ soccer.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to play again Tuesday,
April 1 in Springfield against Ozark Conference foe
Parkview, with the junior varsity game starting at 4:30
p.m. and the varsity contest to follow.
