returns for RHS girls’ golf
ROLLA – With some experienced and
productive players to building around the Rolla
High School girls’ golf team is hoping for a
strong fall season in 2007.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to open their
season on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Twin Oaks Golf
Course in Jefferson City against Jefferson City
Helias.
Of the 11 players on the RHS roster five have
varsity experience.
The Lady Bulldog varsity players include
seniors Charlotte Willy and Hillary Nelson and
sophomores Brooke Giddens, Belinda Choi and
Katie McNulty.
Among the others vying for varsity playing
time include junior Alyssa Packard and sophomore
Marissa Gesualdi.
Willy was a Missouri Class 2 State Tournament
qualifier last season.
"I think this year could go either
way," said RHS golf coach Zach Nixon.
"We’ve got some good returning kids.
Willy and Brooke have improved a lot. And Choi
is as steady as she was last year. We could
potentially do really well. It will really
depend on how we play as a team; how that fourth
score comes in.
"Willy and Giddens are spearheading the
team. And we look for Choi to play better."
Nixon feels last season’s state qualifying
berth by Willy will serve as motivation for the
entire squad this fall.
"Willy qualified for state and Choi
barely missed going to state last year,"
Nixon said. "I think that has really
inspired the team. Charlotte played all year and
tried to get tournament ready for this season.
Her desire has inspired the rest of the
team."
